Architectural Drafter
Job Description:
Takes conceptual designs by others and produces technical drawings various types of building projects. Uses computer aided design to complete buildable and permittable working drawings. Interacts with design team and consultants for completion of a first quality set of drawings.
Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare final drawings under the direction of architect from rough sketches, mark-ups, or verbal communication
- Complete technical details using drawings, rough sketches, code requirements, manufacturer data, etc.
- Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and working with the Design Team
- Implementation and follow-up of the client’s requests
- Assistance to the project manager in overall project responsibilities
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as required
Job Skills, Knowledge, Training and Experience:
- Knowledge of common construction techniques to draw plans and details of a building and understanding of commonly used terminology, concepts and procedures of the construction industry
- Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD system required
- Some knowledge and experience working with REVIT, preferred
- Requires high-quality accuracy with attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Exercise judgment when preparing and modifying drawings and understand resources available to resolve issues and/or when to reach out to the Design Team for help
- Ability to work independently and prioritize work assignments to meet project deadlines
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with project team including designers, builders and consultants
- Some knowledge of building, life safety codes, and other regulations
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to grasp, have good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity to use keyboard and operate office equipment
- Must be able to frequently sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk/hear
- Must be able to stand, squat and kneel
- Must be able to lift and move work related items up to 10 – 50 pounds
- Must be able to push, pull up, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed
Education and Training Requirements::
- Associates degree in a related field
- 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area
