SW 8th Avenue Streetscape

About the Project

This project consisted of the reconstruction of SW 8th Avenue, from SW 13th Street to SW 9th Street. In addition to the milling and resurfacing of SW 8th Avenue, Scherer was also responsible for adding underground utility conduits and junction boxes, street lights, brick paver sidewalks and crosswalks, retaining walls, and underground storm water retention. This project was located adjacent to the University of Florida’s “Sorority Row”, the Norman Hall Parking Garage, and was surrounded by additional student housing, therefore causing the need for special coordination measures to ensure resident accessibility. The safety of the jobsite was maintained even during the height of UF’s college football season.
