Santa Fe College AHU Replacement

About the Project

This project required us to demo an existing AHU from the second floor mechanical room, and install a new AHU in its place with new Chilled water and Heating water piping. The access to this room was extremely limited, so we had to remove a portion of the CMU wall over the gymnasium floor. We protected the gym floor with a layer of carpeting (for padding) with 2 layers of ¾” plywood. We had to remove a door frame and a portion of wall around the frame to be able to get the new AHU into the gym. The AHU had to be dismantled and brought in one piece at a time, and hoisted up into the space. WW Gay used 4 chain hoists to accomplish this. Once the AHU was installed, we had to replace the portion of the CMU walls that were removed, and install a new metal door frame. All painted back to match the existing color. We also installed a new lay-in ceiling in the hallways.
