SCHERER CONSTRUCTION ASSISTS THE SALVATION ARMY IN HAITI

On Tuesday, April 13th, Owner and founder of Scherer Construction, Clark Scherer and  Mr. Jim Crookston, President and Partner of West Florida office returned from a one week trip to Port au Prince, Haiti. Mr. Scherer and Mr. Crookston brought a team along with them consisting of staff intern Architect, Mr. Matt Hedgren, and Mr. Jack Harrington-Structural Engineer.

The goal of this trip was to assist The Salvation Army, a long time and valued customer of Scherer Construction in determining whether the foundations of the existing damaged buildings in over 18 locations of Haiti could be rebuilt in a cost effective manner and if so, to help The Salvation Army determine estimates and establish budgets.

Scherer Construction has worked with The Salvation Army Southern Territory's office for over 20 years and holds their work in high regard. This is not only a business relationship, but one built on mutual trust and respect.

TEAMING UP TO REBUILD NORTH CENTRAL FLORIDA

Nineteen volunteers from Scherer Construction of NFL and one from Crosier Roofing joined Rebuilding Together of North Central Florida as we recognized Rebuilding Together National Rebuilding Day on Saturday, April 24th. RBT is a national organization dedicated to repairing homes belonging to low income elderly or disabled homeowners. We were part of a national effort involving thousands of volunteers across the country. Our project was one of 12 that took place in Alachua County. By the end of the day we preplaced the roof, repaired the carport ceiling, installed new door hardware, and repaired and painted the kitchen cabinets. The homeowner was thrilled to have these projects completed.
